Government to Conduct Full Inspection of Workplaces Employing Foreigners... "If Positive Cases Detected, All Employees to Undergo COVID-19 Testing"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] The government is launching intensive COVID-19 prevention inspections at workplaces densely populated with foreign workers. Environmental tests will be conducted at 1,646 workplaces in the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungcheong region, and COVID-19 diagnostic tests will be carried out for all employees at workplaces where positive cases are detected.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the 7th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has been conducting a full inspection since the 4th targeting 11,918 workplaces that employ five or more foreign workers and have dormitories.
This inspection will be carried out until the 26th. The government plans to inspect 40% of all workplaces in the first week to maximize the effectiveness of quarantine measures.
To this end, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has formed special inspection teams at 48 local employment and labor offices nationwide. In particular, joint inspections with the Ministry of Justice will be conducted in areas such as northern Gyeonggi Province, where recent cluster infections have occurred within workplaces.
