According to the police on the 7th, at around 12:25 a.m. on the 6th, two assailants threatened a female employee with a weapon at a convenience store in Hampyeong-gun, took her alcohol, and demanded cash.
When the female employee said, "I have no money," the assailants demanded her credit card. When she said she was "credit delinquent," they forcibly put her into a car and tried to kidnap her.
The female employee escaped by taking advantage of a moment when the car door was briefly open and reported to the police.
The police issued a nationwide alert for the car driven by the assailants and requested cooperation from nearby regional police agencies.
Later, at around 1:40 a.m. on the 6th, the police found the wanted car parked in front of Songjeong Park. After a pursuit, they arrested A (53) and B (40) near Songjeong Station and handed them over to the Hampyeong police.
Police investigations confirmed that they were uncle and nephew.
According to police statements, they confessed that they committed the crime to raise money for a family member's hospital bills.
