[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 7th that four additional COVID-19 cases have been confirmed within the military. The confirmed cases include one Army officer, one soldier, one civilian employee, and one Marine Corps civilian employee.
An Army officer in Jangseong, Jeollanam-do, was confirmed to have overlapped movements with a civilian COVID-19 patient and underwent testing, which initially came back negative. However, symptoms appeared during quarantine, and a retest confirmed a positive result.
An Army soldier in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, developed symptoms during quarantine after performing a local government support mission. An Army civilian employee in Hanam, Gyeonggi-do, tested positive following a diagnostic test due to a family member residing in Seoul being confirmed positive.

A Marine Corps civilian employee in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, also tested positive following a diagnostic test due to a family member's confirmed case. With this, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases within the military stands at 598, of which 568 have recovered and 30 are currently undergoing treatment.
