Walmart Joins 'Buy America' Initiative... "Purchasing $380 Trillion Worth of American Products"
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Walmart, the largest retail chain in the United States, announced on the 3rd (local time) that it will purchase an additional $350 billion (387.45 trillion KRW) worth of products produced or assembled in the U.S. over the next 10 years.
According to local foreign media, Walmart CEO John Furner mentioned this plan during a visit to a factory in South Carolina on the same day. As part of its strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, he emphasized that Walmart will purchase additional American-made products including textiles, plastics, small appliances, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies.
Walmart added that this measure will create 750,000 jobs within the U.S. and reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to shorter transportation distances compared to imported goods.
