Boseong-gun Selected for National Balanced Development Committee's Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project
44 Billion Won Invested in Two Villages... Improving Living Conditions for Residents of Boseong Nosan and Beolgyo Jeondong Villages
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong County announced on the 4th that Nosan Village in Boseong and Jeondong Village in Beolgyo (22 billion won per site) have been selected for this year’s ‘Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project Contest’ hosted by the National Balanced Development Committee.
With this selection, Boseong County will invest a budget of 4.4 billion won in two villages to improve residents' living conditions by 2024.
In addition to hardware improvements such as fence maintenance, roof renovation, vacant house maintenance, and alleyway maintenance, plans are in place to strengthen residents’ capabilities to create resident-led villages.
Nosan Village in Boseong and Jeondong Village in Beolgyo are neighborhoods with buildings over 30 years old, where basic living infrastructure such as restrooms, village alleys, and water and sewage systems urgently need improvement.
Accordingly, since last September, Boseong County has actively worked with residents to establish necessary project plans and attract the vulnerable area living conditions improvement project.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, said, “The project includes plans to renovate vacant houses that posed safety and crime risks, which will greatly help improve the residential environment. It is expected to revitalize the villages by providing spaces for new residents returning to farming and rural living.” He added, “We will continue to spare no support for balanced regional development and improvement of living conditions.”
