Should You Start a Post-Corona Business Using Big Data for Commercial Area Analysis?
Mapo-gu Commercial Area Analysis Big Data Service Platform 'Mapo-gu Commercial Area Analysis Big Data Center' Providing Big Data-Based Commercial Area Search Service to Operate from March
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) has been operating the ‘Mapo-gu Commercial Area Analysis Big Data Center,’ a big data service platform for commercial area analysis that provides a commercial area search service using big data, since March.
The ‘Mapo-gu Commercial Area Analysis Big Data Center’ is a platform that supports customized startup and management for prospective entrepreneurs and existing small business owners to respond to the post-COVID-19 era by utilizing various up-to-date data such as resident and floating population, regional commercial rent, and card sales.
To provide such commercial area analysis services, the district signed a business agreement with the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation in February last year and has made efforts to secure diverse commercial area data, including receiving Zero Pay merchant information from the Korea Simple Payment Promotion Agency.
The ‘Commercial Area Search Service’ through this platform allows prospective entrepreneurs to select appropriate conditions necessary for starting a business, such as desired industry, reasonable rent, and main customer base, and then find suitable commercial areas by block unit or administrative dong unit based on those conditions.
Additionally, without selecting detailed conditions, users can perform simple condition searches for representative commercial areas such as ‘coffee shops targeting office workers aged 20-40,’ ‘convenience stores in areas densely populated by people aged 20-40,’ and ‘chicken specialty stores with low rent.’
Moreover, a ‘Commercial Area Data Visualization Service’ is provided, which graphically represents various commercial area data such as floating population, residential population, working population, business opening and closing rates, estimated sales, and rent.
Furthermore, the platform offers a ‘Commercial Area Comparison Report’ for final candidate commercial areas and allows users to print it, enabling not only support for prospective entrepreneurs but also allowing existing merchants to compare and analyze changes in the commercial areas around their stores before and after COVID-19.
The district expects that the ‘Mapo-gu Commercial Area Analysis Big Data Center’ will play a significant role in important decision-making for livelihood-type self-employed individuals who have felt difficulties more than anyone else during COVID-19, such as which industry to start a business in, where to do so, who to target, and whether to continue management.
