Cheong, Secretary Vacancy Appointment... "Vitality for Governance in the Latter Half of the Term" (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Blue House has made personnel appointments to fill vacant secretary positions for the second half of the presidential term.
Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, announced on the 2nd that President Moon Jae-in has appointed Ko Ju-hee, head of the Digital Strategy Department at Hankook Ilbo, as the Director of the Digital Communication Center; Lee Ho-jun, Director of Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, as Secretary for Industrial Policy; and Jeon Hyo-gwan, Secretary General of the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, as Secretary for Culture.
Born in 1975, the new Director Ko graduated from Jeju Girls' High School and studied Political Science and Diplomacy at Korea University. She has worked as a reporter for Hankook Ilbo and served as head of the Naver News Partnership Team.
Born in 1967, Secretary Lee graduated from Boseong High School in Seoul and earned a degree in Economics from Seoul National University, followed by a master's degree in Public Policy from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in Science and Technology Policy from the University of Manchester in the UK. He passed the 34th Administrative Examination and has held positions such as Director of Energy Resource Policy at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Senior Administrative Officer at the Presidential Secretariat’s Industrial and Trade Secretary Office, Counselor at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, and served as Director of Policy Planning, Director of Investment Policy, and Director of Trade Cooperation at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Secretary Jeon, born in 1964, graduated from Jeonju High School and studied Astronomy and Meteorology at Yonsei University. He earned both a master's and a doctoral degree in Sociology from Yonsei University. He has served as Director of the Culture Education Center at the Cultural Solidarity, Innovation Planning Officer for Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Director of the Youth Hub Center. Currently, he serves as a non-executive director at the Asia Culture Institute and as a private member of the Youth Policy Coordination Committee under the Prime Minister’s Office.
