'HPAI Confirmed at Pocheon Laying Hen Farm... Strengthened Quarantine Measures'
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] A high pathogenic avian influenza (AI) case has been confirmed at a laying hen farm in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, prompting quarantine authorities to take action.
According to the Central Accident Response Headquarters on the 28th, after receiving a suspicious report from the farm, tests detected the H5 type AI antigen. Further detailed tests confirmed it as the highly pathogenic H5N8 strain.
The Central Response Headquarters has begun preventive culling of poultry raised at farms near the outbreak site, along with implementing strengthened quarantine measures such as movement restrictions and intensive disinfection.
With this, the total number of highly pathogenic AI cases reported at domestic poultry farms and experience farms has reached 103.
