Ruling Party, Government, and Cheong: "Vaccine Funding Reflected in Supplementary Budget... Distribution of Thermometers to Pharmacies"
[Asia Economy Reporters Koo Chae-eun, Jeon Jin-young] The ruling party, government, and Blue House have decided to include additional funding necessary for the purchase and administration of 79 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in this supplementary budget amounting to 19.5 trillion won.
On the 28th, Democratic Party spokesperson Heo Young announced this during a briefing after a high-level meeting of the ruling party, government, and Blue House held at the National Assembly in the afternoon.
Spokesperson Heo said, "To ensure the nationwide free vaccination program is implemented smoothly, the entire funding related to the administration of 79 million vaccine doses will be fully reflected in this supplementary budget."
He explained, "We will also support the distribution of non-face-to-face standing thermometers to all pharmacies nationwide, which have been at the forefront of quarantine activities such as public mask distribution and initial response to suspected infections, as a measure to encourage the public and enhance quarantine efforts."
The ruling party, government, and Blue House plan to submit this supplementary budget proposal to the Cabinet meeting on March 2 for deliberation and approval, and then submit it to the National Assembly on the 3rd.
Spokesperson Heo expressed, "Despite various concerns about fiscal conditions, I sincerely thank the government authorities for preparing such a large, broad, and substantial rapid damage support plan."
