Father and Daughter Both Caught for Drunk Driving After Chase and Report... Police Play Key Role in Arrest
[Asia Economy Reporter Nana Han] In Busan, within a few days, a daughter followed her father in reporting and chasing a drunk driving vehicle to the police, playing a significant role in its capture.
On the 27th at 12:09 a.m., near Geumjeongsan Tunnel heading toward Gijang in Busan, the daughter, Kang Mo (25), reported to the police, saying, "It seems like a drunk driving vehicle; it is swerving a lot. It's dangerous," after noticing a Rexton vehicle ahead driving recklessly.
After reporting to the police, Kang followed the Rexton vehicle for about 10 km, providing the license plate number and real-time updates on the situation to the police.
The Rexton vehicle was driving at low speed but suddenly swerved across lanes and brushed against the tunnel wall, raising concerns about a potential accident.
At that moment, a highway patrol undercover vehicle, deployed to crack down on speeding vehicles for Samiljeol (Independence Movement Day), spotted the Rexton reported by Kang and blocked it near the Cheolma Interchange.
The Rexton driver (50) had a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the license cancellation level (0.08%), indicating severe intoxication.
At the time, Kang was on her way home after finishing a gathering in Busan and calling a designated driver.
Kang's father was a taxi driver who had reported a Starex vehicle that collided with a taxi and other vehicles and fled the scene in Busanjin-gu on the night of the 24th.
At that time, Kang's father witnessed the accident scene and chased the fleeing drunk driving Starex for over 10 km, during which his vehicle was partially damaged after colliding with the Starex.
The Starex drunk driver abandoned the vehicle and fled when blocked by the police car but was eventually caught.
