At 9 a.m. that day, a total of 20 caregivers received vaccinations starting with the district's first vaccine recipient, caregiver Lee (63), at the Jungnang-gu Public Health Center Maternal and Child Health Center.
The vaccination process was conducted in order, with a doctor's preliminary examination followed by a nurse's vaccination, and a vaccination certificate was issued to those who completed the vaccination.
Afterward, recipients were carefully monitored for 15 minutes for any adverse reactions, and all 20 vaccinated individuals returned home safely.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, "Thanks to thorough preparations including two full-scale mock vaccination drills in anticipation of the first vaccination, today’s first vaccination in Jungnang-gu and the first in South Korea was successfully carried out. Since the first confirmed COVID-19 case last year, we had only been managing the situation like navigating an endless sea, but now it feels like we can see land far ahead, which is hopeful. We will do our best to ensure that all residents who want the vaccine can receive it quickly and safely."
The district will conduct vaccinations for 2,745 individuals, including workers and residents of nursing hospitals and nursing facilities under 65 years old, through hospital-based vaccinations and visits to public health centers.
