View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, was elected as the 5th president at the 13th regular general meeting of the "National Social Solidarity Economy Local Government Council" held on the afternoon of the 25th at the Seoul 63 Convention Center.
The council was founded in March 2013 with the goal of "realizing local communities centered on people and villages through a social economy of reciprocity and solidarity," and 48 local governments nationwide participate as members.
In addition to electing new executives, the regular general meeting proceeded with reports on the 2020 projects and settlements, approval of the 2021 project plans and budget, and discussions on future activity directions.
Newly elected president Moon Seok-jin stated, "Now, when the social role of companies is being highlighted, is the time when the social economy can fully blossom," and added, "The council will strive to play a central role in achieving an inclusive society that grows together with the socially vulnerable."

Seodaemun-gu has participated as a member since the council's founding and, after enacting the "Seodaemun-gu Social Economy Activation Support Ordinance" in 2015, has continued various efforts and achievements to expand the "social economy ecosystem," including ▲creating social economy startup spaces ▲operating the Social Economy Committee ▲exceeding public procurement targets for the social economy for three consecutive years.
