Gwanak-gu Mayor Park Junhee Conducts Safety Inspection of Vulnerable Facilities Ahead of Thaw Season
Inspection of 204 Safety-Vulnerable Sites During Thawing Period Including Steep Slopes, Aged Facilities, Roads, and Construction Sites... Special Safety Training for Construction Sites During Thawing Period and Encouragement of Wireless and Wired Surveillance Activities by Autonomous Disaster Prevention Teams and Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will conduct safety inspections on vulnerable facilities in the area for one month from February 15 to March 15 to prepare for the thaw season, when the risk of accidents increases due to ground weakening.
This pre-inspection of disaster-prone areas and facilities vulnerable to collapse and falling rocks during the thaw season aims to protect residents' lives and prevent property damage.
The district selected a total of 204 sites for inspection, including 5 sites rated D and E, 103 steep slopes, 27 road facilities, and 41 construction sites. The inspections will be conducted through self-inspections by facility management departments and joint inspections with external experts.
In particular, this year’s safety inspection will involve Mayor Park Jun-hee visiting 41 hazardous facilities across 21 neighborhoods and 21 sites where residents’ requests have been addressed, conducting direct patrols and inspections. This is expected to raise awareness of safety vulnerabilities during the thaw season and enhance residents’ trust in safety.
Meanwhile, the district is proactively responding to safety accidents by spreading major disaster cases and safety management measures for vulnerable construction types during the thaw season through special safety education at construction sites.
Additionally, the district encourages surveillance activities by the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group, Safety Guards, and residents through wired and wireless channels (Safety Report Center, 120 Dasan Call Center, etc.) to foster a safety culture integrated into daily life.

Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “We will thoroughly prevent safety accidents by conducting more detailed inspections of vulnerable facilities with high accident risks during the thaw season to eliminate risk factors in advance. Going forward, we will do our best to protect residents’ lives and safety through thorough facility inspections not only during the thaw season but also during rainy seasons, typhoons, and winter, which are disaster-prone periods.”
