Damyang Office of Education Strengthens Capacity of School Violence Countermeasure Committee Through Training
"Understanding Boosted with Case-Based School Violence Handling Training!!"
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Damyang Office of Education School Support Center announced on the 25th that it conducted a capacity-building training for 12 members of the School Violence Countermeasure Deliberation Committee on the 24th, practicing social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, aimed at preventing and supporting school violence.
This capacity-building training was promoted to secure the expertise of the committee members regarding their roles and the procedures and methods for handling cases of school violence, ahead of the new semester opening.
In particular, it is significant that the training was held at a time when interest in school violence is gradually increasing due to the #MeToo school violence incidents that started in the sports world and have spread to the entertainment industry.
A parent committee member who participated in the training said, “In 2020, the School Violence Countermeasure Deliberation Committee was never convened in Damyang, so I became complacent, but through this training, I realized once again how important the roles of the committee members are.”

Education Superintendent Kim Cheolju said, “Because the wounds of school violence victims can remain as lifelong trauma, the role of the School Violence Countermeasure Deliberation Committee is important,” and added, “Through this training, I ask for active efforts so that, following last year, 2021 will not be a year without convening the School Violence Countermeasure Deliberation Committee.”
