Lee In-young: "Efforts to Resume Individual Visits to Geumgangsan When COVID-19 Eases... Need Flexible Approach to Sanctions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Minister of Unification Lee In-young stated that preparations will be made to resume individual visits to Geumgangsan once COVID-19 eases, and called on the international community to adopt a flexible approach to sanctions.
On the 25th, at the seminar titled "Promotion Plans and Preparatory Tasks for Individual Visits to North Korea" hosted by the South-North Exchange Cooperation Support Association, Minister Lee delivered a video congratulatory message, saying, "We will steadily prepare all necessary matters with the goal of resuming individual visits to Geumgangsan once COVID-19 eases."
Minister Lee said, "Recently, North Korea has expressed its intention to independently develop Geumgangsan," adding, "We will strive to create a progressive future for Geumgangsan together through meetings and dialogue between the South and the North."
He continued, "If a South-North East Sea Tourism Special Zone connecting Wonsan and Galma in the North with Seorak in the South is established along with Geumgangsan, it would not be a distant dream for it to become an international tourist destination that everyone wants to visit," revealing detailed plans.

Minister Lee emphasized that revitalizing human exchanges between the South and the North will contribute to peace and the restoration of national homogeneity, stating, "We hope the international community will also consider the humanitarian value of individual visits and adopt a flexible approach to sanctions."
