[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus is participating as an implementer in the government's 'Industrial Complex Smart Energy Platform Construction and Operation Project.' On the 24th, LG Uplus held a launch ceremony at its Yongsan headquarters in Seoul and announced that it will build a 'Smart Energy Platform' in the Namdong National Industrial Complex in Incheon.
The government's 'Smart Energy Platform Construction Project,' which runs until the end of 2022, aims to create an efficient energy usage environment by utilizing Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Big Data to promote innovative growth in industrial complexes, the foundation of manufacturing. The government plans to establish smart energy platforms in seven key industrial complexes, including Namdong, Gumi, Gwangju, and Yeosu.
LG Uplus will be responsible for building the energy platform within the Incheon Namdong National Industrial Complex. As the first step, it plans to establish and operate the 'Industrial Complex Factory Energy Management System (CEMS).' CEMS provides cloud computing-based factory energy management services to tenant companies.
Tenant companies will be able to utilize the resources necessary for energy management without owning separate physical IT infrastructure such as servers. By leveraging this, tenant companies can efficiently manage energy consumption and expect cost savings and greenhouse gas reduction effects.
LG Uplus will operate a system that collects, stores, refines, and analyzes energy data from tenant companies in real time and will continuously provide the collected data. Additionally, it will form an offline energy council called the 'Smart Energy Cluster,' centered on tenant companies and involving energy-specialized companies, institutions, and universities, and will continue to provide ICT-based energy business tailored to industrial complexes.
