The Rising Trend of 'Chaesik' as an Environmental Protection Movement
Likeit collaborates with CEO Son Nayoung on 'Now, Vegan' challenge
2021 'Clean Pick' Weleda, Paula's Choice, Lush
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoung] The number of people choosing vegetarianism for the environment is increasing, instead of for religious reasons or health. The rise in carbon emissions generated by the livestock industry has emerged as a cause of ozone layer depletion and environmental problems. In February, Clean Life conducted an online challenge campaign themed ‘Vegan’ to practice environmental protection.
Likit collaborated with vegan cooking researcher Son Nayoung to run the ‘Now, Vegan’ challenge as part of the February Clean Life online campaign. This challenge was planned to spread awareness that simply by what we eat, we can participate in environmental protection efforts. Weleda and Hite Jinro Beverage also joined to encourage participation in the challenge. On the 2nd, Likit visited Robigan Vegetarian Cooking Academy and planned two vegan recipes with CEO Son Nayoung: arugula pesto pasta and kale wrap, producing video content. The challenge opened on the 9th and ran for one week.
CEO Son Nayoung, who participated in the challenge, said, “As ethical consumption trends that value social values such as environmental and animal protection spread, vegetarianism is becoming popular. Rather than thinking it’s difficult, I recommend lightly participating by thinking of replacing one meal in daily life with a vegetarian meal.”
Along with the online challenge, Likit selected a total of three excellent eco-friendly products as Clean Picks: ‘Superfood Body Butter (Weleda)’, ‘Clear Pore Normalizing Cleanser (Paula’s Choice)’, and ‘Glory Hair Conditioner (Lush)’.
Weleda’s Superfood Body Butter is an organic body cream free of artificial fragrances and colorants, providing a smooth texture and comfort to the skin. This highly moisturizing rich cream absorbs quickly and has a soothing effect on the skin. The intensive nourishment from cocoa butter helps improve dry skin. Weleda pursues environmentally friendly natural resources, sustainable and reliable supply chains, and packaging use, building an ethical economy for value creation.
Paula’s Choice Clear Pore Normalizing Cleanser is a mildly acidic cleansing product certified for acne-prone skin relief. Its gentle gel formulation allows irritation-free, mild cleansing, leaving the skin moist and refreshed after washing. Paula’s Choice, which advocates the philosophy of ‘smart and safe beauty,’ opposes animal testing and implements various policies to protect the environment, such as using sustainable materials and recyclable packaging to reduce carbon emissions.
Lush’s Glory Hair Conditioner is a vegan product that contains no animal-derived ingredients. It adds rich texture and moisture to hair, and the abundant fatty acids in olive oil help strengthen hair care. Coconut cream soothes sensitive scalps comfortably. Lush uses only fresh and honest ingredients sourced from nature and leads efforts to protect a clean environment by opposing animal testing and developing solid naked products that eliminate unnecessary packaging.
