Jeju Police and CCTV Control Center Collaborate... Series of Theft Suspects Arrested
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Police Agency recently apprehended a thief through collaboration with the CCTV Control Center.
According to Jeju Police Agency on the 23rd, at around 3:20 a.m. on the 16th, a CCTV Control Center monitor operator discovered a suspect attempting to open the door of a parked vehicle on a side street in Seogwipo-si, Seogwi-dong, to steal items.
Following the monitor operator's report, the Jungdong Police Substation dispatched officers to the scene and apprehended the suspect.
Earlier, at 1:50 a.m. on the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday, a CCTV Control Center monitor operator spotted a suspect stealing agricultural products such as sweet potatoes and mushrooms stored at a stall in the Maeil Olle Market in Seogwipo-si after business hours, and informed the Jungdong Police Substation.
The thief was arrested by officers dispatched from the Jungdong Police Substation.
In addition, over the past three years, CCTV Control Center monitor operators have discovered crime scenes during CCTV monitoring, leading to police dispatch and arrests in 222 cases.
On this day, the Chief of Jeju Police Agency visited the CCTV Control Center and awarded commendations from the Jeju Police Agency Chief to two monitor operators who contributed to the apprehension of criminals through monitoring.
