Gangdong-gu Local Artists Support Project 'Uri-deul-ui Yeongung' YouTube Video Released
From February 15 to 28... 'Saetaryeong' and More Available for Viewing via YouTube Channel
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) and Gangdong Cultural Foundation (CEO Lee Jae-hoon) will release the video of the local artist support project "Our Heroes" on the Gangdong Cultural Foundation YouTube channel until the 28th.
"Our Heroes" was launched last year to support local artists whose performance activities have become difficult due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Through a review process, this project selected local artists from various genres such as classical music, gugak (traditional Korean music), theater, and multi-arts, providing support funds ranging from 1 million to 5 million KRW depending on the characteristics and scale of the work, as well as support for filming locations, video, and photography.
"Our Heroes," which collaborated with local artists active in various genres in the Gangdong-gu area, consists of a total of 21 diverse stages, starting with "Saetaryeong," a Namdo folk song performed by Ieum (CEO Yoon Sang-mi), who is working to popularize pansori, and ending with "Dynamic Together" by The Art Connection (CEO Kim Geun-hyung), a street multi-arts specialized group established by young artists.

Lee Jae-hoon, CEO of Gangdong Cultural Foundation, said, "Our Heroes is especially meaningful as the first support project conducted since the foundation's launch. I hope this project can provide even a small source of strength to local artists who are passionately active in their fields despite the COVID-19 situation." He added, "Gangdong Cultural Foundation will always listen to the voices of local artists and actively promote projects for local artists in Gangdong-gu, doing its best to advance regional culture and arts."
