Gwangju Dong-gu Forms 'COVID-19 Legal Response Team'
Strong Response to Quarantine Guideline Violations... Prioritizing Residents' Lives and Safety
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 23rd that it is the only autonomous district in the Gwangju area to form a 'COVID-19 Legal Response Team (hereinafter referred to as the Response Team)'.
The operation of this Response Team was established to enhance administrative and legal measures to reduce violations of quarantine guidelines, ensure the safety of residents and the local community, and alleviate the heavy workload of COVID-19 response departments (such as health centers and the Resident Safety Division).
The Response Team consists of a total of five public officials led by a legal affairs specialist (lawyer) as the team leader, and its expertise was enhanced by allowing consultation with the district's legal advisor.
The Response Team plans to actively support legal reviews to respond swiftly and strictly to violations of 'COVID-19 quarantine rules' that pose risks to the local community.
Additionally, by reflecting and applying real-time updates on basic quarantine rules according to the stages of social distancing, policies from the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, and additional guidelines from Gwangju Metropolitan City, the team will perform functions such as ▲filing complaints on illegal acts ▲determining the scope of claims and calculating compensation amounts ▲and comprehensive management of targets for complaints and penalties.
