[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Electronics is conducting an open recruitment for full-time regular high school graduate new employees to work at its Gwangju plant producing home appliances.
According to the industry on the 22nd, Samsung Electronics has been conducting an open recruitment for grade 5 full-time regular new employees to work at the Gwangju plant under the Home Appliance Division from the 17th of this month until the 24th. This high school graduate public recruitment for production positions at the Gwangju plant is effectively the first in 8 years since 2013.
Samsung Electronics plans to assign the newly hired high school graduate employees to home appliance manufacturing processes at the Gwangju plant. The work schedule will be shift work covering day and night, and anyone with a high school diploma or higher is eligible to apply.
Samsung Electronics will conduct a manufacturing job aptitude test on the 13th of next month and plans to announce the final successful candidates in April. The specific number of hires has not been disclosed, but it is expected to be at least in the tens.
Industry insiders see that as the demand for home appliances has increased amid the ongoing spread of COVID-19 that began last year and continues into this year, Samsung Electronics is aiming to hire more manufacturing specialists in response. Last year, Samsung Electronics' home appliance (CE) division's sales increased by 7.6% year-on-year, and operating profit rose by 36.4%.
