KT&G Supports Flower Farms Struggling Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] KT&G is supporting flower farmers who are facing economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
On the 22nd, KT&G announced that it will help flower farmers struggling from the cancellation of various events and gatherings through various events linked to its lifecycle employee care program, ‘Gahwamansa(社)seong’.
‘Gahwamansa(社)seong’ is KT&G’s representative family-friendly program, meaning “When the family is harmonious, all company affairs go well,” and consists of various contents such as congratulatory gifts for children entering school, career exploration for middle school children, and reminder weddings for parents.
First, to mark the March school entrance season, KT&G will deliver flower baskets along with CEO congratulatory cards to employees’ children entering elementary, middle, and high school. KT&G decided to add flower baskets to the congratulatory gifts previously given to children entering elementary school and expand the recipients to include children entering middle and high school, delivering flower baskets to about 550 children in total.
In addition, flower baskets are gifted year-round to pregnant employees, and in May, the month of family, about 200 employees who apply in advance will be selected to receive flower baskets along with letters written by employees to their families.
Furthermore, on the first floor lounge of ‘KT&G Sangsangmadang Busan,’ a ‘small garden in the city’ will be created under the theme ‘Sangsang Sagye,’ introducing methods for growing crops at home and holding events such as distributing seedlings and flowerpots.
Han Gi-seon, head of KT&G’s Communication and Empathy Department, said, “We hope this support will be a small help to flower farmers suffering from decreased flower consumption,” and added, “We will continue to strive to help neighbors facing difficulties due to COVID-19 through various methods.”
Meanwhile, in addition to supporting flower farmers, KT&G has been carrying out various support activities to overcome COVID-19. It donated 500 million KRW in emergency funds to the National Disaster Relief Association and delivered ‘Sangsang Nanum’ lunchboxes worth 300 million KRW to vulnerable groups.
