Seoul Gangseo-gu to Promote Specialized Programs for 'Culture Day' on the Last Wednesday of Every Month... Night Extensions at Heo Jun Museum and Gyeomjae Jeongseon Art Museum with Online Programs
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] A cultural event to comfort daily life weary from COVID-19 blues will be held once a month.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it will operate a special program for the "Culture Day" on the last Wednesday of every month.
This event is designed to utilize the district's representative cultural facilities, Heojun Museum and Gyeomjae Jeongseon Art Museum, to relieve the increased cultural thirst during the COVID-19 era and help residents access culture more easily.
In particular, considering the difficulty in operating cultural programs due to the spread of COVID-19 last year, this year the district has prepared cultural programs that can be enjoyed online as well as extended night openings.
The events will be operated alternately by facility, with even months (February, April, June, August, October, December) and odd months (March, May, July, September, November).
Starting this month, Gyeomjae Jeongseon Art Museum will hold a "Artist Talk Concert" from 5 p.m. on the last Wednesday of even months. This segment invites the artists of the works exhibited at the museum that month to share stories about their art. The event can be attended via the Gyeomjae Jeongseon Art Museum YouTube channel.
On the last Wednesday of odd months, the museum will extend its opening hours to expand viewing opportunities for residents. The extended hours are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and admission is free only during the extended hours.
Heojun Museum will conduct "Online Healing Meditation Yoga" at 7 p.m. on the last Wednesday of odd months. Applications can be made through the Heojun Museum website, and participants can join via the Zoom video application through a link sent to applicants. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and the program is free of charge.
Heojun Museum will have night openings during even months. The opening hours on the last Wednesday of even months are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and admission is free during the night opening hours, similar to the Gyeomjae Jeongseon Memorial Hall.
Separately, a "Music Concert" is also expected to be prepared. The district plans to provide residents with diverse cultural experiences through concerts that combine exhibitions, art, and music.
A district official said, "We hope that Culture Day will transform local cultural resources into more familiar and open spaces," and added, "We will make further efforts so that residents can easily access and enjoy culture even in their nearby living spaces."
The district partially reopened Heojun Museum and Gyeomjae Jeongseon Art Museum from the 20th of last month while strictly adhering to quarantine rules such as limiting the number of visitors.
