Residents Directly Identify Issues in Care, Food, and Environment in Apartment Living → Deriving Solutions Through Social Economy Methods
Up to 3 Years per Complex, Annual Differential Support of 30 to 60 Million KRW... Continued Support Based on Performance
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 21st, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will recruit 15 apartment complexes to participate in the ‘Gongdongjutaek Gati Sallim’ project, which encourages residents in multi-family housing such as apartments and villas to discover necessary services for daily life, derive solutions, and foster them as social economy business models.
This project aims to solve living problems within multi-family housing for up to three years through collaboration between residents and local support organizations (social economy organizations), reinvesting the profits generated in local services, ultimately creating a sustainable social economy model.
The ‘Gongdongjutaek Gati Sallim’ project is conducted annually for up to three years. The main contents are (Year 1) agenda setting → (Year 2) prototype and pilot service production → (Year 3) establishment of social economy enterprises. Depending on the project results, each complex can receive support ranging from 30 million to 60 million KRW annually for up to three years.
The local support organizations matched to each complex play a key role in closely and intensively supporting the growth of resident groups, project execution, and corporatization to ensure the project is resident-led and to enhance project outcomes.
Multi-family housing complexes with more than 50 households wishing to participate in the ‘Gongdongjutaek Gati Sallim’ project can apply to the relevant district office after forming a resident group of at least five members and obtaining approval or consent from the resident representative meeting.
Local support organizations that assist resident groups are also being recruited. Organizations eligible to apply include ▲social economy intermediary support organizations ▲social economy organizations ▲non-profit corporations or non-profit organizations with experience in multi-family housing-related projects operating within the region.
The ‘Gongdongjutaek Gati Sallim’ project started in 2019 targeting 20 multi-family housing complexes (11 district offices), and last year 30 complexes participated. Various projects have been promoted in connection with local social economy organizations to solve living problems such as care, healthy food, eco-friendly living, and resident communication.
