"No Qualified Candidates"... ADD Director Reannouncement
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]The Ministry of National Defense is re-announcing the recruitment of the director of the Agency for Defense Development (ADD), the cradle of South Korea's military weapon system development, after about three months.
On the 18th, the Ministry of National Defense posted a public recruitment re-announcement on the ADD website, which was confirmed on the 19th. This is due to the failure to find a qualified candidate in the first recruitment last November.
In the first recruitment, Kang Eun-ho, then Deputy Administrator of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), applied after resigning, but when the qualification of 'senior official level at DAPA' was added, suspicions arose that it was intended for him, causing considerable controversy.
After the controversy, former Deputy Administrator Kang was appointed as the Administrator of DAPA at the end of last year, and the Ministry of National Defense, after personnel committee deliberations on the remaining candidates, judged that there were 'no qualified candidates.'
In the re-announcement, the eligibility includes 'senior officials at the Ministry of National Defense or DAPA who have worked for more than five years in the fields of weapon system acquisition and defense science technology.'
Additionally, retired officers of lieutenant colonel rank or higher with experience in defense policy-related departments, senior researchers or higher at government-affiliated research institutes in science and defense science technology fields, and directors or higher at defense industry companies with more than five years of experience are eligible to apply. The application deadline is March 2.
