Jangseong-gun Issues Heavy Snow Advisory, Takes Proactive Measures
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) has taken proactive measures to minimize inconvenience and damage to residents due to adverse weather conditions.
On the 17th, Jangseong-gun announced that it had prepared for the snow by inspecting snow removal personnel, equipment, and materials following the issuance of a heavy snow advisory at 4 a.m. that day.
From the previous day until 7 a.m. on the same day, an average of 8.2 cm of snow fell in Jangseong, with the most snowfall recorded in Bukha-myeon.
Mountain passes such as Gijjae (Samgye-myeon) and Soljae (Bukil-myeon) recorded an average snowfall of 10.7 cm over two days.
The county dispatched 37 personnel, including public officials, and 20 pieces of equipment to the site for snow removal operations, while about 90 private volunteers also participated using tractors.
In particular, snow removal was carried out on major roads such as local and county roads and mountain passes in residential areas to ensure smooth traffic flow, and volunteers were deployed to city streets and village roads where snow removal vehicles had difficulty accessing.
Additionally, the county sent disaster alert messages to all residents to prevent heavy snow damage and requested cooperation in preventing safety accidents, such as "clearing snow in front of your house and store."

A county official stated, "Since an additional 5 to 15 cm of snow is forecast to fall by noon on the 18th, we plan to focus all efforts on snow removal operations on major routes."
