Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) announced on the 17th that all 11 businesses within the Bukhansan Doosan We’ve Apartment shopping center in the area will sign an agreement with the Hong Eun 1-dong Community Service Center for the ‘Our Neighborhood Sharing Store’ program.
A Sharing Store refers to a shop that voluntarily donates customized services and food items to neighbors in need, spreading a culture of sharing within the local community.
The participating businesses include an ice cream shop, pizza and chicken specialty stores, restaurants, convenience stores, laundromats, study cafes, dental clinics, internal medicine clinics, pharmacies, and real estate agencies within the shopping center.
Agreements have already been made with two businesses recently: the ice cream specialty store donates products worth approximately 30,000 KRW each month to three single-parent families, and the study cafe provides monthly 20-hour usage vouchers to three low-income students.
The remaining nine businesses will sign agreements within this week.
Once all agreements are completed, the number of businesses participating in the ‘Our Neighborhood Sharing Store’ program in Hong Eun 1-dong will increase to 18, including the existing seven, with an expected annual total of about 1,000 beneficiaries.
Across all 14 neighborhoods in Seodaemun-gu, there are 166 Sharing Stores, and the beneficiaries are connected through their respective community service centers.
The district office distributes ‘Sharing Store’ plaques to shops participating in sharing activities for more than three months, and outstanding Sharing Stores are featured in the district newsletter ‘Seodaemun Madang,’ published on the 25th of each month.
Kim Su-jeong, manager of Baskin Robbins Bukhansan Doosan We’ve branch, who played a leading role in having all the shops in the apartment shopping center participate as Sharing Stores, said, “Both the stores and residents are going through difficult times, but I hope we can share our hearts little by little and create a happy local community.”
Hwang Seung-ju, head of Hong Eun 1-dong, said, “It is probably the first time nationwide that all shops in an apartment shopping center participate as Sharing Stores. We will work harder to revitalize the Sharing Store project.”
