The organic potatoes shipped by Chamsari Agricultural Cooperative Corporation were planted by nine farms using 15 tons of seed potatoes in 80 greenhouses (4.7ha) from late September to early October last year. It is expected to harvest 100 tons of organic potatoes from February to March this year and supply them to iCOOP Consumer Cooperative, generating an income of about 4 million KRW per greenhouse.
The organic potato cultivation greenhouse area located by the Hwanggang River has suitable conditions for producing high-quality organic potatoes due to the use of groundwater for water film cultivation, which reduces production costs and utilizes loamy sandy soil.
Compared to spring potatoes, winter greenhouse potatoes are distributed from February, when potatoes are not usually shipped, making them a notable winter niche crop that increases farmers' income.
