Democratic Party Suncheon Regional Committee Launches 'Special Investigation Committee on Bribery Provision'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Democratic Party of Korea's Suncheon·Gwangyang·Gurye·Gokseong (Gap) Regional Committee (Chairman So Byeongcheol, hereinafter Suncheon Regional Committee) announced on the 16th the launch of the 'Special Committee for Investigation of Bribery Provision.'
The chairperson of the investigation special committee was appointed as lawyer Gu Heeseung, an external figure, to ensure an objective and fair investigation.
Chairman Gu is a legal expert who served as the head of the legal support team for then Democratic Party candidate So Byeongcheol in the 21st general election.
This special committee was launched as it was deemed necessary to investigate the facts following multiple complaints and reports that bribery has been occurring recently in various parts of the region ahead of the Jeonnam Provincial Council by-election scheduled for April 7.
In particular, the Suncheon Regional Committee is known to be taking the ongoing reports of bribery allegations very seriously.
While striving to practice new and clean politics in accordance with the will of Suncheon citizens who elected a Democratic Party member for the first time in 10 years in the last general election, such allegations have surfaced, which is perceived as not only undermining trust in the party but also insulting the citizens of Suncheon.
