Mapo-gu Gender Equality Fund Contest... Up to 10 Million Won Support
Open for Applications Until the 3rd, 35 Million Won Gender Equality Fund Invested, Up to 10 Million Won Support per Project... Promoting Gender Equality Awareness, Creating Family-Friendly Environments, Preventing Violence Against Women, and Strengthening Social Safety Nets
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) is accepting ideas for the ‘Mapo-gu Gender Equality Fund Support Project’ until the 23rd, aimed at discovering various projects related to gender equality and providing opportunities to carry out these projects.
The district establishes a comprehensive gender equality plan every year to practice the ideology of gender equality in all areas including politics, economy, society, and culture. It has been promoting various projects to encourage economic participation, support work-family balance, raise awareness of gender equality, and foster a culture of equality.
In particular, gender impact assessments are conducted on ordinances that are revised or enacted to enhance the effectiveness of gender equality policies, as well as on plans and projects that may have a significant impact on gender equality. The district also establishes and operates a gender equality fund to promote policies that expand women’s social participation and improve their rights and interests.
This year, the call for proposals for the gender equality fund support projects covers three areas: ▲ projects to raise awareness of gender equality (spreading a culture of gender equality), ▲ projects to create a family-friendly environment (supporting work-life balance, etc.), and ▲ projects to prevent violence against women and strengthen social safety nets (protecting the rights and interests of women and children and establishing community safety nets). Each project can receive up to 10 million KRW in support.
Eligible applicants are non-profit corporations and non-profit private organizations located in Mapo-gu that are active in promoting gender equality and protecting women’s human rights and welfare.
After the project call, the district will carefully review the purpose of fund use, appropriateness of the support project, project execution capability, and self-funding ability, and then select the final project institutions through the Gender Equality Fund Operation Deliberation Committee. The support projects will be implemented starting in April.
Organizations wishing to apply can refer to the Mapo-gu Office website, download the application form and project plan, complete them, and submit them to the Mapo-gu Women and Family Division.
Meanwhile, last year, the district promoted the gender equality fund support projects in cooperation with six organizations, covering educational projects for various generations from infants to middle-aged adults, activist training projects, and safety guardian projects.

Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “Through creating an atmosphere to realize a gender-equal society in all areas, we will take the lead in actively carrying out various policy projects linked with private organizations so that women and men can participate equally in local policies and women can fully demonstrate their capabilities.”
