Gangdong-gu 'Neighbor Making' Support Project Contest... Up to 1 Million Won Support per Group
From February 16 to March 5, '2021 Neighborhood Building Support Project' Open Call... Up to 1 Million KRW Support for Village Community Project Expenses per Group of 3 or More Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is promoting the ‘2021 Neighbor-Making Support Project’ to revitalize resident-led village communities.
The Neighbor-Making Support Project is a resident participation public contest project that supports small groups in various fields such as health, childcare, volunteering, education, and culture, enabling residents to take the lead in showing interest in the village and independently addressing various needs in daily life within the community.
Last year, the district supported about 120 million KRW to 146 resident small groups. This year, the support scale has been significantly expanded so that more community groups can benefit, supporting over 200 teams across 17 neighborhoods, with up to 1 million KRW per group.
In particular, this year, groups that have previously participated in the village community (Neighbor-Making) project will be given an additional opportunity to apply, continuing support to help them grow into sustainable village communities.
Eligibility to apply includes residents or workers in Gangdong-gu with three or more members, or non-profit organizations; foreigners holding a foreign registration card are also eligible to apply.
Activity themes can be freely proposed as long as they relate to village community projects, such as village schools, talent-sharing education, urban agriculture, cooperative childcare, village volunteer activities, and cultural and artistic creation activities. Proposed projects will be reviewed, and up to 1 million KRW in project funds will be supported per group.
The application period is from February 16 to March 5. Applicants can submit the project proposal, project plan, and other required documents by visiting the neighborhood community center in person or by emailing the person in charge for each neighborhood.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “In the crisis of COVID-19, residents’ interest and voluntary participation in neighbors and the village are more important than ever,” adding, “We hope that more residents will participate in this contest project to help ‘Gangdong Localism’ flourish.”
For more detailed information, please check the Gangdong-gu Office website under ‘Notices/Announcements’ (posted on 2.16). Inquiries and consultations about the project can be received through the Gangdong-gu Village Community Support Center.
