[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Jumi Lee] A man in his 70s, who had been punished multiple times for drunk and unlicensed driving, was sentenced to prison again after driving under the influence.
The Jeonju District Court Criminal Division 6 (Judge Im Hyun-jun) announced on the 15th that A (75), who was indicted for violating the Road Traffic Act, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison.
The court stated, "The defendant has been criminally punished nearly 30 times, many of which were for drunk and unlicensed driving," and added, "Although he has received prison sentences three times, he committed the same crime again during the probation period, making severe punishment inevitable."
A was indicted for driving about 2 km on a road in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, at around 7:45 p.m. on November 13 last year after drinking alcohol. At that time, A's blood alcohol concentration was 0.067%, which corresponds to a license suspension.
