Incheon City to Hire 1,185 New Public Officials This Year... Expansion of Selection for Socially Disadvantaged Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 15th that it plans to newly hire 1,185 local government officials this year.
Although this is a smaller scale compared to 1,962 in 2019 and 1,553 last year, it marks the third consecutive year of large-scale recruitment exceeding 1,000 people.
By rank, there will be 16 at grade 7, 87 at grade 8, 1,060 at grade 9, 19 researchers, and 3 instructors. By appointing institution, 1,056 will be hired for Incheon City and its 8 districts, 79 for Ganghwa-gun, and 50 for Ongjin-gun.
The city will conduct separate recruitment with higher quotas than the legally (recommended) mandated ratios to expand public service opportunities for socially disadvantaged groups. Specifically, 63 people with disabilities, 33 from low-income households, and 12 technical high school graduates (or expected graduates) will be selected separately.
In particular, for the grade 9 facility management and driving categories, 13 special hires will be made based on recommendations of children of national veterans from the Incheon Veterans Affairs Office.
The exams will be divided into the first and second halves of the year. The first appointment exam will be held on June 5 (application period March 29 to April 2), and the second appointment exam on October 16 (application period July 5 to 9), with applications accepted online only.
Applicants must have continuously resided in Incheon from before January 1 of this year until the final exam date (interview), or have had a resident registration address in Incheon for a total of at least three years before January 1 of this year.
However, for some categories and the separate recruitment for Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun, residency requirements differ, so applicants should check the official announcement.
Detailed schedules and information related to the appointment exams can be found on the Incheon City website’s exam information site (http://gosi.incheon.go.kr) and the local government integrated internet application center (http://local.gosi.go.kr).
