The number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area has remained in single digits for 12 consecutive days since six cases were reported on the 3rd.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 15th, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area was 3,059, an increase of eight from the previous day (including 45 imported cases).
New confirmed cases by region include five in Gyeongsan City, two in Gunwi County, and one in Andong City. Notably, the two cases in Gunwi County are public officials at the county office, putting the county office on high alert.
The new confirmed cases in Gyeongsan City consist of one symptomatic individual who visited a screening clinic and four of their contacts. The infection route of the prior confirmed case remains unclear.
The two new confirmed cases in Gunwi County are colleagues of a county office public official who tested positive on the 13th. When a public official residing in Daegu tested positive, Gunwi County urged all employees to undergo testing during the Lunar New Year holiday, resulting in two additional confirmed cases.
In Andong City, one contact related to a Taekwondo academy in Andong tested positive in a test conducted before the end of self-quarantine.
In Gyeongbuk Province, 27 people (excluding imported cases) have been confirmed positive across various locations over the past week, with the weekly daily average number of confirmed cases recorded at 3.9.
