Nationwide New COVID-19 Cases at 6 PM: 290 Confirmed... Likely to Exceed 300
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] As the impact of the third wave of COVID-19 continues in various places, new confirmed cases were reported nationwide on the 14th as well.
According to the quarantine authorities and local governments, a total of 290 new confirmed cases tested positive for COVID-19 from 0:00 to 18:00 on that day. The metropolitan area accounted for 239 cases (82.4%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 51 cases (17.6%).
Specifically, there were 136 cases in Seoul, 92 in Gyeonggi, 15 in Busan, 11 in Incheon, 8 in Daejeon, 5 each in Daegu, Ulsan, and Chungnam, 4 in Gyeongbuk, 3 each in Gwangju and Jeonbuk, 2 in Jeonnam, and 1 in Gangwon. No confirmed cases have yet been reported in Sejong, Chungbuk, Gyeongnam, or Jeju.
Regarding major infection cases, in Ulsan, 4 additional confirmed cases were reported among coworkers related to employees of a large workplace who had previously tested positive, and in Busan, additional confirmed cases emerged mainly in nursing homes and care facilities. In addition, infection cases linked to large hospitals, family and relatives gatherings, workplaces, and sports facilities continue to be reported steadily.
During the Lunar New Year holiday (11th to 14th), the interim daily confirmed cases were 323, 303, 262, and 290 respectively, showing a gradual decrease but increasing again on this day. The overall decrease in confirmed cases is interpreted as a temporary effect of reduced testing during the holiday period.

Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at 0:00 on the 15th is expected to increase further to the mid-300s, and possibly reach the high 300s.
