Pohang City to Supply 530 Electric Vehicles This Year... Up to 14 Million KRW Support for Passenger Cars
Applications open from the 22nd... Up to 27 million KRW support for cargo trucks
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 14th that it will accept applications from 9 a.m. on the 22nd through the Ministry of Environment's electric vehicle purchase subsidy support system, regarding its decision to distribute 530 electric vehicles to citizens this year.
Earlier, Pohang City announced on its website on the 10th that it plans to distribute electric vehicles to the private sector, including 350 passenger cars and 180 cargo vehicles, with a total project cost of 8.6 billion KRW this year.
For general passenger electric vehicles, a maximum of 14 million KRW is supported, and for cargo vehicles, up to 27 million KRW is provided. Additionally, local subsidies are provided differentially according to national subsidies.
The distribution targets are citizens or corporations aged 18 or older with an address in Pohang City. Subsidies can be applied for electric vehicles that can be delivered within two months.

Shin Gu-jung, head of Pohang City's Environmental Policy Division, stated, "Electric vehicles contribute to environmental improvement such as reducing fine dust, and considering tax reduction benefits, fuel costs, and maintenance costs, they are economically advantageous," adding, "We will do our best to expand charging infrastructure to enhance convenience for buyers."
