Gyeonggi-do Reports 80 New COVID-19 Cases... Below 100 for Two Consecutive Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Gyeonggi Province announced that 80 new COVID-19 cases were reported on the 13th, bringing the cumulative total to 21,412 as of midnight on the 14th. Of these, 77 were locally transmitted cases and 3 were imported cases. The daily cases in the province have remained below 100 for two consecutive days, with 99 cases reported on the 12th. This is presumed to be due to a decrease in testing during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Regarding major infection cases from the previous day, 15 Syrians who recently attended a family gathering in Yeoju City (13 confirmed cases within the province and 2 outside the province) tested positive, and health authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations. It was found that they gathered on the 6th at the home of Ms. A, the mother, in Yeoju. The gathering reportedly included 20 family members from Ms. A’s three sons’ families.
While conducting epidemiological investigations on two Syrians who tested positive in Naju, Jeollanam-do on the 12th, authorities confirmed that they had attended the family gathering in Yeoju on the 6th. Subsequently, COVID-19 tests were conducted on all attendees of the gathering, resulting in 13 additional positive cases.
Four additional cases (3 church members and 1 contact) related to the Yeongsaenggyo Seungri Sect and tutoring academy in Bucheon City were confirmed, bringing the total number of cases in the province related to this cluster to 123. The confirmed cases related to the Yeongsaenggyo Seungri Sect and tutoring academy in the province include 74 church members, 3 academy instructors, 28 students, and 18 contacts. Additionally, 2 new cases were reported related to manufacturing and the Islamic center in Ansan (total 26 cases), and 1 new case related to a childcare facility in Namyangju (total 31 cases).
Small-scale secondary infection cases not classified as cluster infections accounted for 44 cases (55.0%), and 14 new cases (17.5%) with unclear infection routes are under investigation, indicating ongoing community transmission.
Four additional deaths were reported, bringing the cumulative COVID-19 death toll in the province to 463. As of midnight, the bed occupancy rate at COVID-19 dedicated hospitals in the province was 46.2%, and the occupancy rate at seven residential treatment centers was 48.5%.

Eleven new cases were confirmed positive through anonymous testing at 70 temporary screening clinics in the province. To date, a total of 2,044 cases have been identified through these temporary screening clinics in Gyeonggi Province.
