The Oldest Surviving Victim of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery, Grandma Jeong Bok-su, Passes Away
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Jeong Bok-su, the oldest surviving victim of the Japanese military 'comfort women,' passed away on the morning of the 12th.
On the same day, 'Nanum House,' a support facility for comfort women victims in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, stated, "According to the wishes of the grandmother and her bereaved family, the funeral will be held privately as a Christian family ceremony, and detailed information about the grandmother's life will not be disclosed."
Grandmother Jeong had been living at Nanum House since 2013. She was registered in the family register under her elder sister who passed away early, and has been known to be 106 years old, but her actual age is 98. Whether by registered age or actual age, she was the oldest surviving comfort woman victim.
