The 'Drone Special Free Zone Designation Contest Project' aims to provide a testing ground for the practical use and commercialization of drone service industries in accordance with the 'Act on the Promotion and Foundation of Drone Utilization (Drone Act)' implemented since May last year.
In this contest, after document screening, on-site inspection, evaluation committee review, and consultations with related ministries, 15 local governments including Changwon City were designated as drone special free zones.
The drone special free zone is an area where various drone-related regulations can be exempted or simplified to support the demonstration of drone service models.
There are a total of two drone special free zones designated in Changwon City this time.
The first zone is the lower Nakdong River area stretching from Bukmyeon Waterside Ecological Park to Bonpo Waterside Ecological Park, a place with many leisure activities.
Main activities include performing safety prevention activities using drones and demonstrating emergency response tasks such as transporting defibrillators and emergency treatment supplies to the site by drone for rapid response in case of emergencies.
The second zone is the Masan Bay area, characterized by a large floating population and heavy vehicle traffic, which makes delivery and postal services difficult. It will be used to pilot delivery and postal services centered on coastal commercial areas and monitor the water quality environment of Masan Bay.
