Goyang-si Orders 2-Week 'Gathering Ban' on 'Dance Halls and Restaurants' Violating Quarantine Rules
Fines of 1.5 Million Won Imposed on Business Owners
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province has issued administrative measures including a ban on gatherings for A dance hall and B restaurant located in Juyop-dong, Ilsanseo-gu, where multiple COVID-19 cases have occurred since the 3rd.
According to the city on the 10th, the city's quarantine authorities tracked visits through the Safe Call and QR code lists for epidemiological investigations and confirmed that the two establishments violated quarantine rules regarding entry management.
The city imposed fines of 1.5 million KRW each on the business owners of the two establishments for violating quarantine rules, such as consuming food at the restaurant adjacent to the dance hall and failing to keep user logs, and banned gatherings at the businesses until the 22nd.
Additionally, the city plans to conduct intensive inspections in collaboration with relevant departments and judicial police on similar businesses such as indoor sports facilities and dance halls within the jurisdiction, and will take strong measures if violations are found.
Through joint inspections, the city will strictly hold accountable not only for compliance with quarantine guidelines but also for violations of the Building Act, Sports Facilities Act, and Food Sanitation Act, and plans to close businesses and claim compensation.
The city stated, "We plan to implement a 'One Strike Out' policy that imposes fines and a two-week ban on gatherings for businesses violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act."

Meanwhile, the city found that visitor logs were not properly maintained at the two facilities and urged visitors who visited the establishments between the 1st and 7th to voluntarily get tested at screening clinics.
