Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station Conducts School Violence Eradication Activities During Vacation Period
Female Adolescents Department Launches 'Outreach Activities'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station (Chief Kim Gwangnam) has launched activities to eradicate school violence during the winter vacation period.
According to Gwangsan Police Station on the 9th, the Women and Youth Division is actively engaged in outreach activities, conducting guidance and protection efforts such as early detection of at-risk youth and linking them to youth safety networks.
The police judged that customized security activities are necessary as youth move from schools, their main activity locations, to places outside school such as shopping districts and parks.
Accordingly, twice a week, patrol activities to prevent school violence are focused on areas with high concentrations of delinquent youth, such as around Hanam Megabox. They also collect intelligence using related organizations and SNS, and concentrate on improving harmful environments with a high risk of crime exposure. Additionally, they devote great effort to guidance and protection activities for at-risk youth by distributing masks to prevent COVID-19 infection and encouraging social distancing among youth.
