Suncheon-si Selected as Finalist in Urban Agriculture Space Development Project Competition
Securing 50 Million KRW in National Funds, Promoting Indoor Garden and Vertical Greening on 2nd Floor of International Wetland Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 9th that it has been finally selected for this year’s ‘Urban Agriculture Space Creation Project’ contest hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing 50 million KRW in national funding (total project cost 100 million KRW).
This year’s Urban Agriculture Space Creation Project aims to build urban agriculture infrastructure to create a nature-friendly urban environment and enhance understanding of agriculture and rural areas. The plan is to promote an indoor garden and vertical greening around the conference hall on the 2nd floor of the Suncheonman International Wetland Center, a place frequently visited by tourists and citizens.
Through the indoor garden and vertical greening incorporating urban agriculture technology, the project will reduce indoor harmful substances such as formaldehyde and toluene, absorb fine dust, humidify the air, and improve indoor air quality. It will be reborn as a green ecological space for healing and relaxation, providing visitors with a pleasant indoor environment and psychological stability.
