Railway Corporation Invests 1.2971 Trillion Won in Railway Facility Improvement Projects
Focus on Digitalization of Railway SOC and Expansion of Safety and Convenience Facilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] The Korea Rail Network Authority announced on the 9th that it will invest 1.2971 trillion won this year in upgrading aging facilities, including expanding safety and convenience facilities and digitizing SOC.
Specifically, of this year's upgrade project budget, 863.1 billion won (66.5%) will be concentrated on the digitalization of national safety SOC and performance improvement projects for aging facilities to ensure safe train operations. Additionally, 434 billion won (33.5%) will be invested in expanding passenger safety facilities such as screen doors and convenience facilities.
Along with this, the Authority plans to accelerate the execution of more than 791.2 billion won, which is 61% of the facility upgrade budget in the first half of the year, to help economic recovery from the COVID-19 downturn and create about 12,000 jobs.
