Naju-si Launches 'Relay Grocery Shopping Campaign' for Lunar New Year Celebration
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 9th that it will carry out a ‘Relay Shopping Campaign’ to revitalize local traditional markets in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
Starting with the Nampyeong and Gongsan 5-day markets on the 1st, the city is operating Traditional Market Shopping Days at Moksagoeul Market on the 9th and Yeongsanpo Pungmul Market on the 10th, with participation from Mayor Kang In-gyu, executives and employees of local institutions and companies, and public officials.
The shopping campaign is held every year before the holiday season to support small business owners and self-employed individuals who are struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the entry of large retail chains, and changes in consumer patterns such as online shopping.
This year, the campaign was conducted with adherence to personal quarantine rules and social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with minimal participation.
On the day, Mayor Kang visited Moksagoeul Market, purchasing local agricultural products, holiday ritual supplies, and daily necessities using the Naju Love Gift Certificate, while listening to the difficulties faced by merchants.
