Lotte Home Shopping Delivers Holiday Food to Underprivileged Groups for Seollal
On the 8th, Tteokguk Kits and Sikhye Delivered Contactlessly to 120 Underprivileged Households in Yeongdeungpo Area
Since 2015, 259 Sessions and Over 44,000 Side Dishes Provided Through 'Huimangsuragan' Sharing Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 9th that it delivered holiday meals consisting of tteokguk kits and sikhye to 120 elderly single-person households in the Yeongdeungpo area, who are struggling due to COVID-19, in a non-face-to-face manner ahead of the Lunar New Year on the 8th.
The event was held as part of the 'Hope Suragan' social contribution activity in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, where Lotte Homeshopping's headquarters is located. 'Hope Suragan' is a side dish sharing activity that regularly prepares side dishes and delivers them to marginalized groups in the community. Although holiday meals have been made and delivered in person every year, due to COVID-19, the delivery was made non-face-to-face this Lunar New Year, following last Chuseok.
At the delivery ceremony held at Hope Suragan in the annex of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office, only a minimal number of people, including officials from Lotte Homeshopping and the Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Welfare Council, attended. The holiday meals, consisting of tteokguk kits and sikhye, were delivered by the 'Yeongdeungpo Hope Suragan Supporters' who visited each home and hung the packages at the front door so that local seniors could easily prepare and enjoy them. In addition, lucky bags containing handwritten letters from about 50 members of the 'Sharotte Volunteer Group,' composed of Lotte Homeshopping employees, and Onnuri gift certificates were delivered together, adding a warm meaning.
Lotte Homeshopping established the cooking facility 'Hope Suragan' in the annex of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office in 2015 and regularly prepares and delivers side dishes 7 to 8 times a month. So far, a total of 259 sessions and about 44,000 side dishes have been supported. Since last year, food has been delivered in a non-face-to-face manner due to COVID-19. Additionally, starting in March last year, Lotte Homeshopping has continued win-win activities for marginalized groups in the community, such as providing 'daily necessities kits' to vulnerable groups urgently needing infection prevention, supporting 'learning support packages' for children and adolescents struggling with remote classes, and delivering 10,000 masks collected through a mask donation campaign to vulnerable children.
