Jongno-gu Operates 'Safety Advisors' for Residents' Life Safety
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) will operate the 'Safety Advisory System' from February until the end of this year to create a community where residents can live with peace of mind.
The district introduced the Safety Advisory System in 2014, the first among Seoul's autonomous districts, to receive professional and integrated advice from experts regarding residents' safety and to efficiently prepare for various incidents and accidents.
This year, to continue the operation of the Safety Advisory System, an open recruitment was held in January, and former police officers who served at Jongno Police Station and Hyehwa Police Station were hired as safety advisors.
Jongno-gu safety advisors participate in ▲investigating vulnerabilities in residents' daily safety ▲on-site inspections of vulnerable areas by zone such as child protection zones and women’s safe return paths ▲coordination with police stations (joint guidance, crackdowns, etc.).
Additionally, they assist in ▲advising on food hygiene and traffic safety within the district ▲consulting on investigations by special judicial police officers ▲interpreting relevant laws and proceeding with legal procedures on other contentious issues.
