[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Park Min-sik, a former lawmaker and a preliminary candidate for the People Power Party's Busan mayoral by-election, proposed unification to fellow candidates Lee Eon-ju and Park Seong-hoon on the 8th.
At a press conference held at Busan City Hall that day, Park said, "No more 'Old Boys' should hold the key to Busan," adding, "Those responsible for the downfall of moderate conservatism must be held accountable without leniency."
This was effectively aimed at Park Hyung-joon, who is currently leading in the approval ratings. Park Min-sik pointed out, "It is by no means desirable for Park Hyung-joon, who served as the campaign committee chairman during the last general election that ended in a historic defeat, to run."
