LG Electronics Gathers Employee Ideas to Innovate Laptop 'Gram'
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] LG Electronics held a contest to gather ideas from employees for product innovation of the ultra-lightweight laptop LG Gram.
LG Electronics announced on the 8th that it held the LG Gram Idea Contest in January through its in-house crowdsourcing platform, 'LG IdeaPot.'
Since 2017, LG Electronics has operated 'LG IdeaPot,' a crowdsourcing platform where employees can demonstrate collective intelligence. Employees can freely propose ideas for various attempts such as future new businesses, new products, and product or brand names.
The contest was held for about two weeks targeting employees, and creative ideas to enhance the usability of the 'LG Gram' poured in. Despite being a contest only applicable to laptop products, about 400 ideas were collected. LG Electronics plans to carefully review the selected excellent ideas and apply them to future products.
Since its first launch in 2014, LG Gram has led the premium laptop market. It has established itself as a synonym for ultra-lightweight laptops, holding four Guinness World Records for 'the lightest laptop' (14-inch, 15.6-inch, 16-inch, and 17-inch models).
The recently released 'LG Gram 16' is the first in the Gram lineup to feature a 16-inch screen size. Weighing only 1190g, it was certified by the Guinness World Records as the lightest 16-inch laptop in the world. Another advantage is that it is equipped with a large-capacity 80Wh battery despite its light weight.
