Naju-si 'Youth Housing Benefit Separate Payment' Year-Round Application
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 8th that starting this year, it will accept year-round applications for the ‘Youth Housing Benefit Separate Payment’ targeting unmarried children in their 20s who live separately from their parents among households receiving housing benefits.
Housing benefits are a program that supports housing stability for low-income households with an income recognition amount below 45% of the ‘standard median income’ (2.19 million KRW for a family of four) by subsidizing rent or supporting housing repairs.
Previously, even if unmarried youth within beneficiary households lived separately from their parents, they were recognized as one household under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, and housing benefits were paid collectively.
From this year, youth living separately from their parents can receive housing benefits separately from those paid to the parents.
The eligibility criteria are unmarried youth aged 19 to under 30, with a median income below 45%, who pay rent through a lease contract in their own name in a different city or county from their parents’ registered address for purposes such as schooling or job seeking.
However, the parents’ housing type must be a beneficiary receiving rental or repair maintenance benefits.
If selected as eligible, housing benefits will be paid differentially according to the standard rent repayment and income level of the areas where the parent and youth households reside respectively.
Applications must be submitted to the administrative welfare center of the parents’ (head of household) address with required documents including ‘lease contract (resident registration report mandatory), proof of separate residence (certificate of enrollment or employment, etc.), a copy of the youth’s bankbook, and proof of rent payment deposit within the last three months.’
