"Yoon Jeong-hee Left Neglected in France Due to Dementia" Blue House Petition... Baek Geon-woo's Side Calls It "False" (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] It has been claimed that actress Yoon Jeong-hee, who is suffering from Alzheimer's dementia, is living neglected by her husband, pianist Baek Gun-woo, and their daughter. In response, Baek Gun-woo's side immediately denied the allegations, calling them false.
On the 5th, a post titled "Please save actress Yoon Jeong-hee, who is fading away day by day, cut off from the outside world" was uploaded on the Blue House National Petition Board. The petitioner claimed, "Yoon Jeong-hee is separated from her husband and is unable to receive care from her spouse, living alone while battling Alzheimer's and diabetes in an apartment on the outskirts of Paris." They added, "Although her daughter lives nearby, she is busy with her job and family life and cannot properly take care of her mother," and "She cannot go out alone and lives like in a prison."
Baek Gun-woo's domestic agency, 'Vincero,' issued a statement on the 7th, immediately refuting the claims as "false and baseless." Vincero explained, "Yoon's health has rapidly deteriorated over the past few years, making it impossible for her to accompany (on concert tours)," and added, "Rather than a nursing hospital, she is living next door to her daughter's apartment under the care of family and a caregiver appointed by the court."
According to Vincero and others, after Yoon went to Paris in May 2019, her siblings filed a lawsuit regarding the appointment and method of guardianship. They filed an objection with the Paris District Court against the designation of Baek and their daughter Jin-hee as Yoon's property and personal guardians, but in November last year, the Paris Court of Appeal ruled against the siblings, resulting in their final defeat.
The French court's decision document reportedly stated, "There is conflict regarding the appointment of a legal guardian concerning Yoon Jeong-hee's spouse, daughter, and Korean family. Yoon's Korean family claims that she is not receiving proper care and suspects financial embezzlement," and concluded, "After reviewing the arguments and related documents, these claims are unfounded."
Vincero emphasized, "Yoon is receiving regular doctor visits and treatment and is living comfortably and stably," and added, "All the limited phone calls and visitation arrangements claimed by the petitioner were decided under court rulings."
Yoon Jeong-hee and Baek Gun-woo married in 1976 and have one daughter who is active as a violinist. The couple often accompanied each other on overseas performances, showing a loving relationship and earning the nickname 'Inggobu-bu' (a term meaning a loving couple).
